Vienna and the Wolf Trap area are a short drive from our base in Reston. Many homes are established single-family houses with mature trees, brick or painted siding and older patios, mixed with newer rebuilds on the same streets.
Older homes often have divided-light windows and storm windows. We take our time on each pane and wipe the frames. We are careful around stone sills and brick ledges so nothing gets scratched. Trees drop pollen and sap that stick to glass, especially in spring. A pure-water rinse takes it off without streaks.

A long pole with a brush that sprays purified (deionized) water. It scrubs the glass and rinses it with water that leaves no spots, so it dries clear on its own.
Shade keeps surfaces damp, and damp surfaces grow algae and mildew. Cleaning removes it, and washing every year or two keeps it from coming back thick.
